This whimsical collection of literary pinups was created by an artist and illustrator named Lee Moyer. You can find the calendar here, and read all about it here. In the meantime, can you guess which books each of the pinups are referring to?
1. Herman Melville's Moby Dick
2. Mark Twain's Adventures of Tom Sawyer
3. We're kind of stumped on this one, to be honest. It looks like a Geisha (Memoirs of a Geisha?), but she's reading Jane Austen. Anyone have an idea?
4. Nathaniel Hawthorne's Scarlet Letter
5. Definitely something out of Charles Dickens. Perhaps Oliver Twist, who is nearly done in by a vicious chimney sweep?
6. Alice in Wonderland, by Lewis Carroll, of course!
I believe this is the reason why:
"In 2005, Swicord adapted “Memoirs of a Geisha” for “Chicago” Director Rob Marshall, a story of Love unrequited, in an insular, emotionally repressive society. Sound like a Jane Austen novel? In 2007, Robin Swicord not only adapted the screenplay for “The Jane Austen Book Club,” she directed this romantic drama-dy of a disparate group of book lovers whose love lives begin to resemble the plots of the works they discuss every month."

Maybe #5 is Mary Poppins ... ???

the books on the right of #5 mention Oliver Twist, but at first glance before I noticed the chimney duster I thought it was Marry Poppins as well

I love it! I especially love the Alice in Wonderland pin-up. I wrote an erotic version of Alice in Wonderland. If only I had known about this picture when I was designing the book cover!

I always enjoy a good pin-up picture. Not too much, and enough to be a good tease. It makes you wonder how many more people would be tempted to read the classics if they came with covers like this.

The geisha one sets my teeth on edge. I hate it when people attempt to use kimono and don't know what they're doing.
Other than that, very creative and super cute images!

Your Geisha could be a reference to Gilbert and Sullivan.
